Medicare Part D Plans

Finding the right fit

Finding the right Medicare Part D Plan is like finding the right pair of pants… One size certainly does not

fit all! If you are 65 or older and have a Medicare Part D plan it’s important to sit down with a

pharmacist each year during open enrollment to discuss your options and find a plan that best fits your

needs. This year open enrollment runs from mid-October to December 7th , and coverage for your

Medicare Part D plan starts January 1 st 2023. As such, there is only a small window to make sure your

plan includes what you need covered.

How it Works

A typical consultation takes about 15 minutes on average. There are a few ways we can get this

consultation done for you. Option 1 is to call the pharmacy and speak with a pharmacist. The pharmacist

will pull your information up and comb through the medications you’re taking to make sure everything

is up to date. Then they’ll print out this information, do some “homework” to find your best plan, and

then you can come in for the enrollment at a time that’s convenient for you. This way we find is quicker

and easier for patients because it means less time here in the pharmacy, and little to no wait time in the

event there are other people waiting for a consultation when you come in. Option 2 is to come into the

pharmacy and have the medication assessment and Medicare Part D plan enrollment all in one fell

swoop during an in person meeting here at the pharmacy with one of our pharmacists. This option

means more time spent in the pharmacy and potentially a longer wait time if there are multiple people

in the pharmacy waiting for a Medicare Part D consultation, but the upside is you get your enrollment

done in the same day. Both options work just fine; it depends on your schedule and preferences.

Why This is Important

When our pharmacists sit down with a patient to discuss their plan, it’s not uncommon that the patient

has had the same plan for a few years or more, and they are unwittingly overpaying for things they don’t

need and maybe not getting proper coverage for the things they do need. In a post pandemic world with

prices for everything soaring, no one should be overpaying for their prescriptions and healthcare needs.

So let us help you find the right plan for your individual needs! Whether you fill your prescriptions with

us or not, we can help you narrow down your options and make sure your pharmacy accepts your

Medicare plan for your prescriptions. Getting clarity on your prescription medication plan with Medicare
