About Palliative Care

Palliative Care, as defined by the World Health Organization, is “the active care of patients whose disease is not responsive to curative treatment”. When working in palliative care the control of pain and other symptoms, as well as care for the psychological, social, and spiritual wellbeing of the patient is paramount to their proper care. The goal of palliative care is the achievement of the best possible quality of life for patients and their families during that delicate time in their lives.
